April is such a rewarding time for a Spring Family Getaway to San Juan Island.
Easter on the Island
Come celebrate Easter in Friday Harbor, where you can walk to church and the Easter Bunny walks through Friday Harbor, saying Hi to all the little kids. Send your teens on a flashlight Easter egg hunt at the beach, while you dine at the waterfront.
Alchemy Art & Farm Fun
The whimsical Alchemy Art center opens their Art & Farm Store at the old lavender farm in April, artfully combining organic lavender products, local art and art activities for the entire family.
Birding, Flowers and More Art at the Sculpture Park
In April over 8,000 Daffodils emerge at the 20-acre Sculpture Park, closely followed by wildflowers, Irises and Rhodies. The place along Westcott Bay with a natural pond is a heaven for seabirds. The sculptures, poems and interactive art are deeply inspiring.
Earth Day on the Island
San Juan Island’s annual “Litter Free by the Sea” Earth-Day-celebration - on the Saturday after Earth Day - is a big deal and so much fun. The entire community, visitors, islanders and friends come together and clean the isle’s beaches with a huge after-party at San Juan Brewing with prizes for the biggest and strangest trash, free beer for volunteers, live music, kids activities and more.
First Whale Watching Tour
Hop on one of the first whale watching tours of the year and see the Humpbacks returning from Hawaii with their babies, Bald Eagle parents teaching their babes how to fly, baby seals, Orca families and more.
